February 8, 2009 – Finding new talents and managing bureaucratic processes of hired employees in a company are some of the responsibilities of a human resources consultant (HR). With the current economic crisis in the world, leaders are betting on them to find for more qualified, agile and entrepreneurial employees.
“The role of HR is to know how to extract the best from people, manage talents. They also need to know how to recruit, conquer, motivate, retain, and manage,” says the headhunter Jeffrey Abrahams, founding partner at Abrahams Executive Search, a human resources firm.
Field of work
According to Abrahams, who has been in the field for 14 years, the career is broad and the professional can work in the recruitment and selection, training, remuneration, evaluation, and coaching areas (career consultancy).
According to the Brazilian Association of Human Resources (ABRH), the salary of an HR professional ranges between R$ 1.5 thousand and R$ 2 thousand for starters and can reach R$ 30 thousand for those with over 30 years of experience.
“To be successful it is important to manage conflicts and know other areas of the industry,” explains Cirlene Werneck, training vice-president at ABRH.
Besides that, the headhunter stresses the importance of mastering English language, holding a bachelor’s degree in psychology or business administration and a post-graduate degree in people management or business.
“Good professionals will evaluate, together with their superiors, a selection of the stars who will perform their job in the company,” highlights Abrahams.
